Well, here we are, at the hospital, with baby #2 on the way. Its been a long night, labor sort of started around 11PM, then, after a couple of hours of on and off sleep, we got up at 2AM. Around 4AM the bag of water broke and we got ready to get down to the hospital. Now weve been here since 5AM and Ive decided that blogging this event is probably not a bad idea.... Not sure if Ill do pics yet, or not, but, at least Ill post the events....
Heres where we are, Liz is doing well, shes on Oxytosin (Pitosin) at 6milliunits/min and had a shot of pain meds, dont remember the name right now (Nubane Im told). Were going to switch to an epidural eventually, but, for now, were just moving the process along..., or, as they say, were kicking the tires and lighting the fires.
Stay tuned for more as the day progresses.

Work is VERY busy these days. We're launching a new site redesign today for one of our properties. In addition, we're also remodeling our house so that's another long story of business gone awry...and we're moving at work and I'm in charge of that process too...

TITLE: Halos v. Mariners Pre-Game Analysis

Sorry for the tardyness of this post, I'm migrating all the Angels stuff onto a new blog , URL to come soon, and it'll be staffed by more than just me.
So today's game pits the former Angel Jarrod Washburn agains former Dodger Jeff Weaver. In a battle of the #3 starters, the Halos are looking for a better outing from Weaver than they got from Lackey last night. Hopefully the defense will return as well. This will be an important game for Weaver who didn't have an outstanding Spring so he needs a dominating outing to get the fans behind him.
In another great event today, preliminary lineups show "The King Fish" starting at the DH spot, and why not, after his towering HR in last night's game.
In more line up notes, it looks like Mike is doing some interesting things, Figgins at 2B, Alfonzo at 3B and Mathis behind the plate. We'll see how those folks do in those spots tonight, in addition, we'll see if Molina and AK are out for specific reasons.
Enjoy the game and look for the new URL soon.

TITLE: Halos Fall to Mariners 10-8 on Lackey's Poor Outing

Well, not sure where our middle infield was last night....
Errors cost teams games. Even with the Lackey's horrible 2nd inning the Halos made a strong surge to get back into the game, with HR from GA, Juan Rivera, and Tim "King Fish" Salmon. But it wasn't enough. The defense fell apart and we couldn't stay in the game.
Aside from the bright note of Timmy's HR, we had a great relief outing from Hector Carrasco (3IP, 1H, 0.00 ERA). It was also nice to see GA square up on Pineiro and get a 3R HR in the 6th.
And pitching....wow, what happened Esteban (1IP, 3H, 1BB, 1K, 27.00ERA). That is not what we got from you last year. You had a full spring training, looked good there, what happened last night should be just early season "rust."
Everyone will remember the great season of 2002, we weren't wire-to-wire leaders in the AL West. There's 160 games left, plenty of time for everyone to get themselves squared away, the cart sure isn't off track yet, 8R is a great offensive outing, we just needed a little more discipline in the field last night (4E, 2UER), and our "solid" bullpen to get back into form.

Well, last night's game was a bit closer than we had hoped. Tonight's game should be another interesting match-up, featuring John Lackey (14-5, 3.44 ERA in 05) against Joel Pineiro (7-11, 5.62 ERA in 05).
SPECIAL NOTE, FOR THOSE OF YOU IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA, THE GAME IS ON KCOP 13, NOT FOX SPORTS WEST.
On another broadcasting note, the Angels inked a deal to get 158 of their 162 games onto local broadcast channels.
Now, back to game analysis:
The Angels are behind only the Cardinals in most road wins since 2004 (STL: 103, LAA: 94) proving that they are as good on the road as any team in baseball, and better than most.
Lackey should be in great form tonight after signing a 3-year deal with the Angels yesterday (with a club option for '09). Against the Mariners John is 5-6 with 80.2 IP and an ERA of 3.68 and 64K.
On the other side of the plate, Vlad, Adam Kennedy (AK), Jose Molina (JMOL), Garrett Anderson (GA), are all solid against Pineiro, batting a combined .303 with 4 HR. This spring, however, Pineiro wasn't super HOT and the Angels look to keep the train headed in the right direction.
If we can get John through 5 solid innings and again get to Mike Scioscia's strong bullpen again tonight we look to put another W on the board. The keys to tonight's game are solid defense, John keeping the ball down against the Mariners, our hitters being patient at the plate, and runners being aggressive on the basepaths.

Well, it was a little frightening there for a while, but, the Halo's managed to survive a break down by Bart in the 5th and another "thriller" from K-Rod at the end of the game. You know what they say, I'm either going to close the game or make is a close game. More to come on today's match-up between the Angels and Mariners later today.

TITLE: Baseball is Back - And So Are the Halos

Ahhh, baseball is finally back. It has been a VERY LONG off-season this year. To make matters worse, I've finally broken down and done the Fantasy Baseball thing. We'll see how far that goes.
More importantly, however, the Los Angeles/Anaheim/California/LA/whatever-city Angels are back. They start out their season today against an interesting Seattle club. Today's starter for Seattle is Jamie Moyer, someone to whom the Angels, "took the wood," the last two times they faced each other in 2005 (11 R, 11.1 IP, 8.99 ERA, 2.16 WHIP). This is a guy who Vlad Guerrero pummels (4 of his 8 career hits v. Moyer are HR, .333 BA). In addition to Vlad, the rest of the line-up is pretty solid against him, and the M's pitching as a whole (.281 BA, 16 HR). On the other hand, going for the Halo's today, is 2005 Cy Young winner Bartolo Colon. The M's do pretty well against him (.310 BA, 9 HR), however, the trail the Angles in seeing Bart by almost 200 at-bats. This should be a big season for the Angels, and their fans, though, with the return of Tim Salmon to the club, along with some of the rookies this year, things look pretty promising. The other person that it's great to have with us again, and in a full-time role, is Chone Figgins, he's lightening quick on the basepaths, and, amazing defensively at the Hot Corner. Additionally, it looks like he bulked up a little in the off-season, he hit a few HR in AZ during Spring Training.
This baseball blogging might continue, we'll see.
